How long have you worked at CSG? 3 years
What's your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of my current position at CSG is that I have been given the opportunity to work directly for and learn from some of the most intelligent individuals in the organization and in the industry. The projects I am working on will have a positive and measurable outcome for the company as a whole, and will bring the company closer to its overall strategic goals. I am getting first-hand exposure to almost everything that the company does, and it is an incredible learning opportunity. I have been involved in strategic process reviews, social media and marketing, recruiting and eventually selection. The company is all about continuous improvement and being a part of that process is very rewarding.
What's the most challenging part of the job?
Part of the my current position requires me to learn and become familiar with things very quickly; there is never just one thing occurring in isolation, but rather a number of components and systems that all require a lot of attention – it is a challenge that I welcome with open arms!
What skills have you learned at CSG?
I think the most valuable skill that I have learned at CSG has been developed by stepping outside of my comfort zone, I’ll call it my “risk taking” skill. I often find myself in a meeting with an employee who is an expert in their field or someone who has worked for CSG from day one. That can be an intimidating situation, and cause you to not speak up when you have an idea or a thought – but the culture and people here have encouraged me to ask questions and have allowed me to learn and grow from that type of exposure. This makes it easy to expand your comfort zone and in doing so I have been able to grow both as a person and an employee.
What makes CSG different from other places you’ve worked?
There is a real sense of community here. Despite the size of the organization and its many departments – it truly feels like a big community. I think in larger organizations there is a tendency to work in “silos”, but CSG focuses on improving the system as a whole. The organization is filled with great people, and at the core that is why I love working for CSG.
What is the work culture like at CSG?
The work culture at CSG is fuelled by entrepreneurial spirit. The company was founded in that spirit and has maintained entrepreneurial attitudes at the core of its continued efforts to drive innovation and growth. It is a collaborative, team based environment. The company does not have “rules” but is guided by a series of values and beliefs that transcend throughout the organization, which truly sets us apart. The company is invested in developing its employees and promoting opportunities for growth.
